Erfahrungsbericht zum Projekt von SueKi Yee mit Salah Zater
Our residency at Ponderosa was filled with so many memories and images, where movement interweaves with long exploratory walks in nature, intriguing discussions on art and life that occured organically with the other residents (/artists), good food and fresh produce, and supporting each other’s practice. Amidst a certain homey bustle that comes with living in a community of 15-25 people, there was also enough space for us to find solitude when required.
It was the first time that Salah and I (SueKi) were collaborating together, and this residency was the perfect balance of structure and freedom for us to step out of our everyday lives and focus on our research and creation. The free use of the beautiful studios there was incredible to have, so much so that it inspired us to create a performance specific to the structure of one of the studios – the space simply spoke to us. At the end of the residency, as part of Ponderosa’s sustainability weekend Klima X, we performed „Falling in-„, which turned out to be a 40 minutes structured improvisation revolving around the meeting of two bodies in a space, and the trust in allowing oneself to fall into this space.
