Experience report on the project “| 3L | trio piece” by Laura Gary together with Lola Atger, Joséphine Auffray & Clara Crescini
This residency is a research for the second part of the trilogy and performance project called ‘Piel Ensemble’.
‘|Pi| solo piece’ is the first part, a pixel, ‘|3L| trio piece’ is the second part, a trio with Lola Atger, Joséphine Auffray and Clara Crescini. Lola is based in la Drôme in France, she will perform outdoor in a video performance. Lola and Joséphine weren’t part of this residency.
The working process is based on improvisation work with somatic guidelines in order to find spontaneous choreographies of each performer, to highlight their potential meaning from a somatic, genealogical and spiritual point of view and finally make a poetic piece out of it. During this initial research we started the process following Barbara Dilley’s practical manual called ‘Solo Scores’ and I accompanied Claire daily with somatic and bodily explorations.
Next steps to this research will obviously to share a residency week based on solo scores with Joséphine, and then with Lola.

Erfahrungsbericht zum Projekt von SueKi Yee mit Salah Zater
Our residency at Ponderosa was filled with so many memories and images, where movement interweaves with long exploratory walks in nature, intriguing discussions on art and life that occured organically with the other residents (/artists), good food and fresh produce, and supporting each other’s practice. Amidst a certain homey bustle that comes with living in a community of 15-25 people, there was also enough space for us to find solitude when required.

It was the first time that Salah and I (SueKi) were collaborating together, and this residency was the perfect balance of structure and freedom for us to step out of our everyday lives and focus on our research and creation. The free use of the beautiful studios there was incredible to have, so much so that it inspired us to create a performance specific to the structure of one of the studios – the space simply spoke to us. At the end of the residency, as part of Ponderosa’s sustainability weekend Klima X, we performed “Falling in-“, which turned out to be a 40 minutes structured improvisation revolving around the meeting of two bodies in a space, and the trust in allowing oneself to fall into this space.
